Frome succumbed to a 4-1 defeat against fellow strugglers Walton Casuals which, barring an unforeseen miracle, probably condemns them to division 1 football next season. Frome started brightly and had the best of the early exchanges with 3 clear cut chances before a low cross from the right was taped home, followed by a cleverly taken corner low to the edge of the area to double their lead on 20 minutes. A fierce strike from Mannings hit the side netting before the half drew to a close.
With the next goal vital it again fell to the hosts in the 57th when a cross field pass from a throw in found the Walton striker found himself in acres of space and 1v1 with Rob Brown which he duly scored. Rex Mannings gained a consolation in the 75th minute but the defence was immediately caught napping as almost straight from kick off Ellington completed his hat trick and effectively ended the game.
To give credit to Frome’s very young side they never stopped trying and now need to prepare and plan for the future.
Frome Town man of the match was Joe O’Loughlin
