Frome Town Women suffer an agonising 1 0 defeat to Ridgeway.

Frome who haven't played in 3 weeks due to postponements, and no fixture last week started brightly when a Minty cross finds Underhill who fires over.

Frome continued creating chances with a Minty free kick going over. Ridgeway came close but Billet saved brilliantly.

In the 2nd half Frome improved massively when Striker Harris 1 on 1 causes the keeper to make a great save. Then Underhill tries an wonderful attempt from range which unbelievably hit the crossbar. Frome kept creating opportunities with Harris, Peet and Starr going close as Frome continued to find gaps between the Ridgeway defence.

Another effort, this time from Minty at range comes off the crossbar with Frome wondering if their luck was in today or not.

Against the run of play Ridgeway score when Billet punches a free kick away and Ridgeway get to the rebound to scramble it in to give Ridgeway a shock 1 0 lead. Frome tried everything to equalise but to no evail.

Karen Perkins Frome Town Women defender said: "Unfortunately the game didn't go our way today, we had chances but they just didn't fall for us. First half we looked like we hadn't played for a few weeks but it was a much better 2nd half, we train Wednesday and pick ourselves up for next week."

Ben Bolland Frome Town Women manager said: "Gutted with the result. It was a tough game and Ridgeway have massively improved. Whilst reasonably equal in the first half, I thought we had the better of the 2nd half and had numerous chances, hitting the bar twice and having one shot cleared off the line.

The players put in a huge amount of effort and we will pick ourselves up for the next game."

Next up for Frome Town Women is a tough trip to Poole Town Women 17th December before a 2 week Christmas break which ends on 7th January at home to Royal Wootton Bassett Ladies .
