Frome Town Women 3 - 2 Shaftesbury Ladies

Frome Town back to winning ways after a well deserved 3 2 win over Shaftesbury in the South West Regional Womens League.


After an unlucky defeat at Bath last week Frome were looking to bounce back in only there 2nd home game of the season.


The game started very tightly with both sides trying to break the other down.

Frome created some half chances with Hill and Wyatt shooting just wide of the post.


In the twenty sixth minute Shaftesbury took the lead with a great finish after a break on the left wing.


Immediately after the goal on next attack the impressive Underhill with a long through ball which finds Harris who 1 on 1 smartly chips the Goalkeeper to make it level.


Then Hill comes forward crosses the ball in which nearly beat the keeper.


Shortly after a Underhill ball finds Harris who might of got a slight touch but finds Minty whose excellent shot hits the post and goes in to make it 2 1.


On the hour mark a Billet goal kick finds Minty who flicks on for Harris to take on defender and fire the ball past keeper to make it 3-1.


Shortly after, Shaftesbury sadly lost number 5, Nikki Castle to a serious ankle injury.


After Shaftesbury grabbed a goal back Frome put on a great performance with the strong midfield duo of Starr and Underhill impressing throughout. Hill also putting in a solid performance.


There was late chances for a Frome 4th with Harris and Perkins all going close but Frome held on to a well deserved win.


Keira Leigh Underhill Frome Town Women Captain said: "Buzzing with todays well deserved result. We were strong and clinical all other the pitch and got the three points I felt we deserved. Was great to have the home support, we will take this momentum forwards into nexts weeks game."

Frome Town Women will be looking to get another win when they host Stockwood at Badgers Hill On Sunday (19th November) at 2pm.
