REPORT: Frome Town 2-2 Evesham United

A 90th minute Alex Monks penalty secured a late 2-2 draw for The Robins against Evesham United on their return to league action at The Robins’ Nest.

Jake Jackson opened the scoring within ten minutes for the second time in as many weeks forthe hosts. after slotting home from close range.

The Worcestershire Robins pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, as Lucas smashed his spot kick past Kyle Phillips.

The forward would continue to be a thorn in the side of the hosts, as he managed to evade the back line and beat Phillips once again.

An entertaining first 45 minutes was unfurling itself in South East Somerset, as both sides were looking to unlock the other’s defences with nice passing football.

The Robins nearly carve out a chance for themselves as a Joe O’Loughlin clutches on to a Jon Davies through ball after a lung bursting run but the subsequent cross came to nothing.

With 20 minutes left on the clock, Danny Greaves used all three substitutions in an effort to change the home sides fortunes with Rex Mannings, Matt Smith and Jack Witcombe replacing Jackson, James Ollis and Chris Peck.

Kane Simpson went close bringing the hosts back level with ten minutes left on the clock, but his shot was well saved by the opposition keeper.

There was late drama as Witcombe was scythed down in the area and the resulting penalty was well dispatched by Alex Monks.

FROME TOWN: Phillips, Ollis (Witcombe ’69), Teale, Mapstone, Hallett, O’Loughlin, Peck (Smith ’69), Monks, Davies, Simpson, Jackson (Mannings ’69)
