David Duru Joins Ahead of 25/26 Season!

We welcome a new striker to BA11 as preparations continue!

The Club is pleased to have agreed to sign David Duru from Cribbs.

David spent seven years with Cribbs before a brief stint at Taunton Town at the beginning of last season, scoring the opener in the Peacock's 2-0 win at Badgers Hill last August before returning to The Lawns in November.

During his spell at the South Gloucestershire-based side, he became the spearhead of their attack and scored 21 goals in all competitions in 23/24, a key part as the newly-promoted side finished third in the Southern League Division One South. That same season, he scored the only goal in a hard-fought 1-0 away defeat for the Robins before Christmas.

On signing another striker, manager Danny Greaves said: "I'm delighted to add David to the squad. His record at Step 4 is excellent, with a goal every other game over the past couple of seasons and his record against us where he scored 2 in 3 appearances meant he has always been someone we are aware of and have kept an eye on!

"As we know from recent history, goalscorers are fundamental to a successful team. In the year of our promotion we had four forwards who scored 66 goals and 33 assists between them. It is well-documented that we lacked that firepower last season. This season we hope to address that.

"In Archie Ferris, we have a proven Step 4, scoring 22 goals for Larkhall in the 23-24 season and finishing as one of the leagues top marksman and a ratio of one in three at Step 3. Sam Meakes played a significant role for us that season with eight goals in ten starts.

"And now, with David Duru, we have a forward who also scored 21 for Cribbs in the same season, and five in nine games last season following his return to the club from Taunton, where he also scored three goals in three starts despite his game time being limited. We now have three strikers, each with different attributes, but all of them score goals which will be key to achieving our targets next season."

On becoming a Robin, David said: "I’m really excited to be joining Frome Town. After speaking with Danny, it was clear that the club’s ambitions align perfectly with my own. I’m looking forward to being part of the journey, and hopefully we can achieve great success in the coming season. I can’t wait to get started!"

Welcome to BA11, David!
