Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, looks back on some special cup clashes in the non-league's favourite cup competition as the build-up to the weekend begins!
With Saturday’s eagerly anticipated FA Trophy clash with Torquay fast approaching, a couple of questions being asked are what is the biggest Badgers Hill crowd for a Trophy tie and, will it be beaten?
The 597 figure for the Worthing epic last month is second on the list while the largest, by some distance, is 923 for the 1981 Somerset derby against Yeovil Town (read all about that game and the replay, spoiler alert, in Saturday’s programme).
Away from Badgers Hill, 1,547 attended the Boston United encounter in the mid 80s and topping that figure is the 1,852 drawn to Twerton Park for a Friday night fixture in December 1969 which for the Robins, was their debut in the competition.
What a month! The big one this Saturday in the Trophy and two pivotal home games in the league! Don't forget to book your tickets and pre-order the collector's edition programme in advance!
