A special landmark for a special player!
Long-serving club captain Sam Teale reached the magnificent milestone of his THREE
HUNDREDTH appearance for the Robins in last Tuesday’s encounter with Merthyr Town.
Signed as a left-back by Nick Bunyard from Paulton Rovers, he previously played for
Clevedon, Mangotsfield and Weston-super-Mare and made his Frome Town debut on 5th
September 2015 against Hitchin.
A crisis towards the end of the 2017-18 campaign saw him step up to take the managerial
reins for a handful of games and his versatility has also included playing an entire match in
goal.
His wholehearted performances along the back line and dedication to the cause, both on
and off the pitch, have made him a firm fan favourite. Who can forget the inspirational
captain’s role he played in that play-off final back in May, powerfully heading home the
equaliser which set the side on the path to a momentous victory?
Now in his TENTH season here at The Hill, he joins a small and select band, names such as Bill
Shackleton, Sid Carter, Roy Bartlett, Steve Gay, Dave Allen, Steve Walkey, Mark Bartlett,
Paul Antell, Mark Salter, Matt Peters and the very current Matt Smith, all members of the
triple-ton appearance club.
There are not too many players who can be called Frome Town legends, but Sam Teale is
certainly one of them.
