REPORT: Frome Town 3-0 Bodmin Town

Kane Simpson’s hat-trick secured a 3-0 victory over Bodmin Town and their place in the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

This was The Robins first win in the competition in several years, and the first during Danny Greaves’ tenure as boss at The Robins’ Nest.

The Robins nearly took the lead within seven minutes as Rex Mannings evaded the Cornish sides defence but his close-range strike was palmed away by the visiting ‘keeper.

Matt Smith and Jon Davies would also have their chance to sting the palms of the visiting ‘keeper as the host started to put pressure on the South West Peninsula League side.

The deadlock would be broken by a mix up in the Cornish defence as pressure from Simpson lead to the ‘keeper planting the ball onto the forward’s foot, who has been prolific in pre-season with six goals.

It's been a lively first ten minutes in the second half, with several frank and tetchy exchanges between the two sides.

Simpson would grabbed his second of the afternoon as he turned Jon Davies cross home from close-range.

The striker completed his hat-trick after he rounded the visiting 'keeper and slotted the ball home to give The Robins an unassailable lead and a place in the next round of the FA Cup!
