REPORT: Frome Town 1-1 (p) Larkhall Athletic

The Robins knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by league and local rivals Larkhall Athletic, following a loss on penalties at The Robins’ Nest.

Weather conditions in South East Somerset were challenging to say the least, as the rain teemed down at The Robins’ Nest, which led to the referee slipping and hitting the deck early on.

The first ten minutes was a tad scrappy with neither side getting a hold on play, however Larkhall managed to trouble Frome ‘keeper Kyle Phillips a couple of times.

The conditions kept on playing a large part in proceedings, as neither side could get a proper stranglehold on the game with both sides slipping on the surface.

It was much the same story at the start of the second half, as both sides gained and subsequently lost possession.

However, the deadlock would be broken on the 65th minute mark, as Lewis Powell tucked the ball home from close range to give The Larks the edge in the tie.

The Robins nearly got a goal back as Alex Monks drove forward but his powerful effort cannoned back off the post.

Jon Davies’ 90th minute strike got The Robins back level with just a couple of minutes left on the clock.

The Larks were the victors following an entertaining penalty shoot-out as Semmens was the hero for the visitors, after saving two Frome spot-kicks.
