Danny Greaves was left disappointed after Merthyr Town grabbed three points from Badgers Hill on Boxing Day.
A late penalty consigned The Robins to their first home defeat of December, despite goals from Jordan Rogers and Ryan Bath.
Greaves said: "That was a tough one to take losing to a late penalty, after doing so well and showing great character to come back twice and then have chances to win it ourselves.
"We came in at full time distraught, and that shows we are on the right track, as we pushed playoff contenders all the way, on the back of Saturday's win against another playoff contender in Hendon."
Connor Roberts and Kris Miller were both taken off during the match after sustaining injuries against The Martyrs.
He added: "The two injuries today changed the flow of the game, and altered some of the more positive changes we had planned to try and go on and win it, but that's football and that's why a squad is so important.
"We will have to wait and see on a few before deciding on a team for Tiverton on Saturday. If we perform like we have over the course of the month so far, we won't be far away from another positive result."
The Robins are back at Badgers Hill this Saturday, December 29 (3pm), when we welcome Tiverton Town to 'The Dodge'. Tickets are available here: ow.ly/l6k030n77C1
