Tuesday evening saw the Robins squad return for the first session of their pre-season preparations this summer. Several familiar faces and a few new ones enjoyed their first outing on the pitch after a break of a couple of months.
After a brutal finish to the 22/23 campaign, one in which Frome were racked by injuries and clusters of fixtures, it was fantastic to see several players returning from lay-offs and get back into the swing of things ahead of the side’s next go in the Southern League.
Midfielder George Rigg said: ‘I enjoyed it and it was a good first session back! It's never the nicest and doesn’t get any easier the older you get, but we’re all looking forward to getting the necessary work done and getting the games started’.
Meanwhile, manager Danny Greaves expressed his delight at his almost unchanged squad reuniting: ‘It was really good to be back and see all the lads again. It's been a long nine weeks off. The lads were all in great spirits and were looking in good condition. They’ve clearly been carrying out their summer strength and conditioning plan! We are looking forward to stepping things up in preparation for our first friendly against Bath on Saturday, 8th July’.
The preseason friendlies will begin with a home match against Bath City, before trips away to Dorchester, Street and Bridgwater. Then it is consecutive home matches against Bradford Town and Weston-super-Mare, before concluding with an away match at Kidlington. For more information on tickets, please click on the link below:
