Plymouth Parkway vs Frome Town: Match Preview and Ticket Info

Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, looks ahed to a challenging cup fixture on the road!

It's FA Cup weekend once again as Frome Town's quest for glory takes them to Bolitho Park, home of Premier Division Plymouth Parkway, for a Second Qualifying Round tie on Saturday.

Jupp's Up for the Cup!

The Robins are riding the crest of a wave at the moment, having racked up five straight wins (scoring fifteen goals in the process), a run of form they last managed two years ago.

It will be something of a revenge mission for it was Parkway, with an incredible late run of fourteen wins from fifteen, who pipped them to the title during that frustrating 21-22 campaign, despite losing 1-0 at Badgers Hill and conceding a stoppage time equaliser in a stirring 2-2 share of the spoils at their own Bolitho Park stronghold.

They are a club who have come a long way in a short space of time with three promotions in five years and acquitted themselves well in their initial attempt at Step Three, finishing tenth last term.

After losing their opening four fixtures of the current season, they have recovered somewhat with one defeat in the last five which includes beating Dorchester 2-0 at home in the previous round.

Having despatched two Western League sides already, this will be a big step up for The Robins who will be bidding to win away in the Cup at opponents from a higher level for the first time since 2008 when a gritty display earned a 1-0 success at then Southern League Cinderford.

Saturday will also be something of a personal milestone for Danny Greaves who joins a small and exclusive group in taking charge of his 200th Frome Town game, a figure bettered by just three other managers, namely Doug Hayward, Derek Brain and Andy Crabtree.

What better way to celebrate than being in the hat for the next round draw, a fortnightly Monday ritual that, hopefully, will go on a little longer yet!

Danny Greaves will join the 200 club!
