Plymouth Parkway 2-2 Frome

Updated: Aug 19, 2021

Frome continued their unbeaten start to the season as a last-minute Jon Davies goal secured a point against Plymouth Parkway on Tuesday night.

Davies was on hand to turn the ball into the net from a James Ollis cross to level the scores in added-time at Bolitho Park.

The forward had given the Robins an early lead on the night with an instinctive strike from the edge of the box that gave the opposition ‘keeper no chance.

Kane Simpson and Jack Witcombe both came close to extending the lead before the game was turned on its head before half-time.

First, a slick passing move from the home side resulted in Jack Crago finding himself one-on-one with James Carey and slotting home confidently.

Despite several good saves from Carey, Parkway took the lead before the interval when Witcombe was penalised for a foul in his own penalty area and River Allen confidently fired home the resulting spot-kick.

Parkway had the ball in the net again soon after, with the Robins grateful to see the assistant referee’s flag raised for offside.

A serious looking injury for Warren Maidment brought play to a halt midway through the second period. The defender took a hefty blow to the ankle and had to be stretchered off.

Despite a flurry of half-chances in the second half, the best of which saw substitute Ollis denied by a heroic block on the line, the equaliser looked set to evade Frome.

However, Ollis’ persistence, combined with Davies finding himself in the right place at the right time, secured our first away point of the campaign.

We are back in action on Saturday as we host Paulton Rovers at Badgers Hill in the FA Cup.
