Rex Mannings is one of Frome’s most exciting young prospects and judging by his obvious ability, looks to have a prosperous future ahead of him. Mannings signed from Bristol Manor Farm last October, and since joining has found a lot of joy down the right-hand side for Frome predominantly, his lightning pace and mesmerising footwork too much for most fullbacks.
Rex himself describes his key attributes as “speed and agility” which when partnered with his “positive and direct” approach, make for a real threat. To further highlight the young-ster’s ability, Mannings has previously represented his country at under 16’s level, and now hopes Frome and the Southern Premier Division, where he has “always wanted to play” will support him in becoming the player many know he can become.
In Frome’s recent 1-0 win over Wimborne Town, Mannings came on late in the second half to add a real flare to a tired Frome side, whipping in a few wicked crosses that had the opposition worried. When asked about his performance, Rex said: “I thought I was good going forward and I hope I can keep doing that in future games”.
If Mannings continues to perform, who knows what lies ahead. Alike many, the winger’s ultimate goal is to “play in the professional leagues of English football” where he hopes “club and international success will follow”.
Until then, Frome fans get to enjoy watching an English gem set the field alight with indescribable talent. Mannings is equally as grateful, saying:

Time will tell as Frome continue to battle to stay in the Southern Premier Division, whether Mannings can be the difference for Danny Greaves’s side in the latter stages of the season.
