Today is one year to the day since the conclusion of our Crowdfunder appeal we ran at the start of the pandemic. As COVID-19 took hold and put a stop to our title charge and put the club's existence in huge doubt.
Our community showed their colours, with over 300 people helping raise £20,235. Allowing the club survive the summer of 2020 and overseeing the new club board take over. Our community have long been aware of the clubs need to raise more investment to sustain all the elements of the clubs finances and the management of the clubhouse. So the amount raised was a huge welcome relief for the club, easing some of those immediate pressures following the impact of zero income into the club due to no football and no clubhouse takings.
Looking back on the Crowdfunder, the amount raised was seriously impressive with the club raising thousands more than many larger clubs in the area and nationally. Where each fan was recognised by being able to have their name featured on a seat in the ground and on our Wall of Thanks.
We saw our two lucky winners enjoy being a player and a coach for a week as two amazing experiences were bid on. Whilst IMS Ltd amazingly purchased a match for everyone in Frome to come along for free (more details to come on this!).
We also saw Youth player Gabriel Walsh choose the name of our stadium for the 20/21 season to be known as the 'Robins Nest'.
Chairman Derek Graham, commented today: "It's hard to believe that it's been a year since our Crowdfunder appeal finished. It's been a year like no other, and we could not have survived without the incredible support you gave the club, both on the appeal and by turning up to support the Club. Together we all are truly #BA11."
We'll never forget the support that you all gave, so this season you will see that all the names from the Wall of Thanks (plus a few extras), featuring on the 21/22 Season Ticket and Flexi Ticket cards as we continue to show our appreciation as a club.
We hope that next time, if we look to the fans for contributions, it will be for more positive progression. We also hope that every person that donated or helped share the message of our Crowdfunder feels appreciated and that they can be proud to know they have helped keep the club going.
