Frome enjoyed a successful Bank Holiday Monday thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 win against Melksham at Oakfields.
A feisty opening saw both Jon Davies and Melksham captain Greg Tindle shown yellow cards for robust early challenges, and both sides struggled to fashion shots on goal.
That all changed midway through the half though as after Davies had seen his close-range effort brilliantly saved, the ball was recycled to George Rigg and he found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to register his first goal in a Frome shirt.
The opening goal allowed the Robins to take control of possession and only a good stop from Melksham ‘keeper Matthew Hall prevented Davies extending our lead.
After surviving some early second half pressure from Melksham, two quick-fire goals helped wrap up a convincing victory.
Our lead was doubled after some fantastic work in midfield from James Ollis saw him win back the ball before releasing Davies who scored with a typically composed finished.
Ollis then got the goal that his performance deserved, finishing confidently underneath Hall after Witcombe had played him in on goal.
A composed final half hour saw allowed the Robins to see out the win comfortably, continuing our unbeaten league run in the process.
We return to action next Saturday against Mangotsfield at Badgers Hill in the FA Cup.
