Frome Town FC are delighted to announce that Matt Smith will remain with The Robins for the 2020/21 season.
The midfielder re-joined The Robins for a second spell last summer, following a move from local league rivals Melksham Town.
Smith scored 25 goals in 188 appearances for The Robins in his first four years at Badgers Hill, before he moved to National League South side Chippenham Town in 2015.
Manager Danny Greaves is "delighted" that Smith has decided to stay in South East Somerset for another season, citing his experience and ability as vital ahead of an important season for The Robins.
He said: "I'm delighted that Smithy has decided to extended his stay. Another lad with huge experience to match his undoubted ability which will once again be invaluable for us if we are to compete at the right end of the table again.
"We only lost one game when Smithy started last season which tells you everything about his importance to the team."
It was a no-brainer for Smith to return to Badgers Hill for the next campaign, as he hope to push the club towards a return to the Southern League Premier South as soon as possible.
He said; "Delighted to have agreed to stay for the upcoming season. It was an easy decision in the end. We had a great season and I want to play a part in attempting to finishing what we started.
"I really enjoy being part of this club and would like nothing more than playing a part in the club achieving its aim and getting back into the Southern Prem sooner rather than later."
