Match report: Ridgeway 0 - 4 Frome Town Women


Frome Town comfortably beating Ridgeway 4 0 at Redlands Leisure Centre in the South Western Regional Women's Football League In warm conditions.


Both teams have had a difficult start to the season but came into the game full of hope. Frome Town Women welcomed back Katie Minty, Elicia Rumens and Nieve Edwards for today's game.


Frome started very strongly when within 80 seconds a Underhill free kick finds Starr who heads it to Peet who calmly lobs the keeper to give Frome Town the lead.

In the 4th minute Fans player of the match Rumens corner finds the head off Underhill who powerful heads past the Ridgeway goalkeeper to make it 2 0 to the Robins.


Frome who were impressive throughout with the defence off Didymus, Ratcliffe, Edwards and later on Whisstock looked comfortable and the midfield triangle of Starr, Ham and Managers player of the match Underhill were solid in the game.


Frome could of tripled there lead before half time with Peet, Harris and Ham all having half chances before the break.


In the 2nd half Frome continued to Dominate possession with amazing passing and the attackers Harris, Peet and sub Minty.


Frome's pressure was made to count when Rumens excellently timed pass finds Harris who fired past the goalkeeper to make it 3 0.


With five minutes to go Rumens ball finds Wyatt whose cross finds the in form Harris who scores to make it 4 0 which turned out to be the result.



Ridgeway had a couple chances which Billet saved and the other effort hit the crossbar.


Ben Bolland Frome Town Women Manager said: Excellent team performance today. We attacked the game from the start, and got two early goals before then controlling the game. Great performance from the whole squad, creating a lot of chances and looking solid at the back throughout.


Keira Leigh Underhill Frome Town Captain said : It was great to get our first win. It feels like our season started properly today, bring on the rest of the season.


Frome Town Women next game is at home to Poole Town on 8th October in the South Western Regional Women's Football League 2pm Kick off free entry.
