LADIES: Wellington 0-8 Frome Town

Goals galore for The Robins as Steph Issacson's hat-trick helped her team put eight past Wellington on Sunday afternoon.

On a very wet pitch with a strong wind in their faces Frome started brightly with Christmas getting 2 early chances in the 1st 10 minutes her 2nd effort hitting the post.

Frome’s early pressure soon paid dividends after some good work down the right saw Ratcliffe burst to the byline and fire a fine ball to the back post where Isaacson lurked to sweep home Frome’s 1st.

The 2nd for Frome soon came this time from the left with the dangerous Brant involved after her lively start and Christmas and Isaacson both playing their part, the ball ultimately ending up at the feet of Underhill in the box who passed the ball into the bottom corner giving the home keeper no chance.

Wellington to their credit kept pushing forward using the wind to their advantage but the strong Frome back 4 and hard working midfield mopped up any advances to keep the score line 2-0 going into the break.

Frome came out strongly in the 2nd half starting with a headed effort just going wide from Underhill from a nice cross from Petteford on the right.

Frome somehow on the now boggy pitch kept their neat short passing game going in the middle with Didymus and Bristow combining well to feed Petteford on the edge of the area who put through Isaacson to beat the keeper at her near post for her 2nd of the game.

Frome now in top gear didn’t hold back and Underhill went through one on one and did everything right by lifting the ball over the keeper with a fine chip only to see her goal bound effort tapped in a yard out by Isaacson to secure her hatrick.

Moments later Underhill made no mistake in getting her 2nd goal after being put through again by the midfielders. Frome now 5-0 up with 20 minutes still to play may well have seen many opponents collapse but not Wellington who still pushed for a goal especially down their right with one push forward stopped by Isaacson who rose well to claim the ball with both hands oops!

The hard working Christmas still found time to get herself a couple of goals, the 1st a proper looping wind assisted shiner but the 2nd a more conventional shot well put away.

Working hard right to the final whistle Petteford grabbed a deserved goal late on again teed up by impressive Bristow.

Today’s player of the match was given to Brant who defended superbly throughout and also pushed forward threatening to score in the 1st half.

Next week, Frome Town will make another trip down the A303 to take on Ash Rangers in a rearranged league fixture!
