Injury Update Ahead of 25/26 Season

A brief report on our long-term injured players!
Jon Davies suffered an ACL injury in September last year and has now been given a date for his operation which will take place on 6th August. He will then go through an extensive rehabilitation period and we hope to see the talismanic playmaker back on the grass in the New Year.
JD7 has made 261 appearances for the Robins since his debut in October 2015, scoring 104 goals and, in our promotion season, he became just the seventh Robin to notch up a century of strikes. He played just ninety minutes over three outings last season and, tellingly, in that time on the pitch the score was Frome Town 1 - Opponents 0.
Reece Rusher who suffered ACL and MCL ruptures in August, had a successful operation in early 2025 and has been carrying out his rehabilitation over the past few months. It is hoped we might see the dynamic winger back in some form of no contact training in August or September with a view to returning to match action in later in the autumn.
Rusher has made just 29 appearances since joining in January 2023, scoring seven goals. His last competitive appearance came against Mousehole in May 2024, a few days after he had scored a last-gasp wonder goal to preserve the Robins' unbeaten home record in the last regular game of the 23-24 promotion campaign.
Matt Smith suffered a recurrence to an old knee injury in October last season during training after featuring in our FA Cup defeat at home to Larkhall. We still do not know the full extent of that injury and timescales involved. Smith debuted in 2010 and has appeared on 312 occasions in Robins red, racking up 37 goals. He is the only Frome Town player to have taken part in the play-offs of 2011, 2022 and 2024.
Reece Rusher described his plan: "I’d love to be back right now getting run into the ground by Simmo and the plan was to aim for pre-season, but unfortunately I’ve got a little niggle which is putting a hold on that for the moment. However, I’m hoping I'll be back kicking a ball around Badgers Hill soon."
Jon Davies said: "Now I finally have an operation date and an end goal in sight to get back on the pitch playing, I’ll do everything I can to get back on the pitch before the season finishes. My first target is to get back doing some training with the lads before the end of the year."
