The pitch at Badgers Hill looked in fine condition and proved to be a great surface to play on. Whitman started the game the livelier of the two sides knocking the ball around with great confidence, but Frome stood firm and denied the visitors any meaningful attempts on goal.

This changed on the 1/4 of an hour mark when Whitman overloaded Frome and found a spare player lurking just outside the box who struck the ball into the top corner leaving Restorick no chance. The rest of the 1st half played out with both teams competing across the park, Whitman to be fair moved the ball well through the 3rds playing out from the back but the Frome women stuck to their task going in at half time still in the game. Frome came out in the 2nd half and looked much more of a threat playing with more confidence and composure but Whitman had the next chance on goal only to be denied by a brave smothering save at the feet of the attacker by Restorick.

Whitman found their way down Frome’s right with some pacy footwork and a fierce shot on 75 minutes to take a 2 nil lead. Soon after Whitman were denied a 3rd with another smart save save from Restorick pushing a goal bound drive over the bar. Frome’s work rate continued throughout the game against a well drilled team who train everyday together back in the State’s. Late on Whitman scored their 3rd of the night with again nice build up play and a clinical finish from just inside the 18 yard box.

A good display from all the Frome Women and Whitman college players in a high tempo competitive game and played in the right spirit hard but fair! Frome presented Whitman with a signed Frome Town Women shirt after the game and wish them all the best for the rest of their stay in the UK.

Next up a trip to the seaside on Sunday to take on Redlands near Weymouth.
