Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, reflects on a pivotal fixture this weekend at the top of the table!
Badgers Hill stages a mouth-watering Southern League encounter on Saturday when leaders Willand Rovers roll into town.
The Robins will be looking to continue their imperious home form which has brought SEVEN straight victories and an unbeaten run of THIRTEEN games extending back to last March.
Last season's fixture here ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Willand snatching a share of the spoils in stoppage time and it's interesting to note that of the squad of fifteen selected by Danny Greaves for that clash fifteen months ago, ten have moved on for one reason or another.
Frome exacted revenge of a kind in the return at Silver Street thanks to a last-gasp long-range leveller from Pierce Mitchell and also on target (in both games) was Alex Monks who made a welcome return from injury at Malvern last week.
After a mini-slump, the Rovers returned to the top of the table following a 2-0 triumph at Bideford last week, but every one of the chasing pack have games in hand.
Promoted as Western League champions in 2019, they are enjoying their best Southern League campaign to date following 15th-place finishes in the last two years and have always provided stubborn opposition for the Robins. This Saturday will be no different.
