Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, looks ahead to a high-stakes, all-to-play-for clash tomorrow night!
It's an either/or for the winners of Tuesday's big Badgers Hill FA Cup replay against Premier Division Plymouth Parkway with the prize being a trip to Cray Wanderers (Isthmian League Premier) or Ramsgate (Isthmian League South East Division) in the Third Qualifying Round.
Their tie at the weekend also ended 2-2 and they will meet again on Wednesday on the Kent coast.
For the neutrals, Saturday’s second half at Bolitho Park was as good as it gets with the only ingredient lacking being a winning goal. This time, however, the outcome will be settled on the night with extra time and even penalties deciding if necessary.
Parkway's only previous visit to the Hill was a hard-fought league encounter a couple of years ago when a solitary first half strike from Jon Davies was enough to separate the sides on a chilly November evening.
There's something special about FA Cup replays under the lights, a happening the Robins last experienced five years ago on an eventful night in Winchester where missed penalties (one for each side), extra time, a floodlight failure, red card and a floodlight fire (well, a lot of smoke anyway!), contributed to a chaotic contest and Frome eventually lost by the odd goal in three.
Badgers Hill replays, historically, have gone rather better with six wins in the last seven so fans can take heart from home advantage, hopefully generating an atmosphere that gives the team that all-important lift.
