Zeb Baker-Smith considers a high-stakes clash with the Tigers as football returns to BA11.
It was just over three months ago that Frome Town succumbed to Gloucester City by two goals in a midweek defeat. That October outing saw the Tigers secure top spot in the table as the BA11 outfit continued to ponder the gap to safety that was opening up after each game.
Fast forward to this weekend and it is fair to say there has been something of a reversal in fortunes for both clubs. In the six games since the beginning of December ‘little old’ Frome are leading the league for form - yes, we’ll say it once again! - having given themselves an excellent chance to prove the autumn doubters wrong.

Promising results that just did not seem possible weeks ago are being strung together as the Tuesday-Saturday matchday slog began in positive fashion with a win at Winchester and a pragmatic point at Totton.
Having been one of the touted favourites ahead of the season, life at Step 3 has been hit-and-miss for this weekend’s visitors since seeing off Danny Greaves’ side. City’s lead over fellow candidates for the title, Totton and Merthyr, evaporated after a few too many draws and a couple of shock defeats.
It would be unwise to rule the opposition’s end-of-season ambitions out entirely, but they desperately require a result to stay within distance. This weekend will be a tough ask against the third-placed side then, but the feel-good factor around the Robins is here to stay despite no home game for nearly a month.
One impact of all the cancellations is the amount of games still to take place in BA11. Though their home form has been lacking this season, the Scarlet Runners can take heart from successive victories in December and there remain plenty of points to be won on Somerset turf.
The enthusiasm of a healthy home attendance has not dipped and the application displayed on the field in recent weeks mean that this gutsy group of players will no doubt be cheered on at Badgers Hill when Saturday comes.

A point tomorrow and win on Tuesday ( Wimborne) would give us a very handy 5 points over this tricky 3 game period. This won't take us out of the relegation zone but the following month's fixtures gives us every opportunity to do so? From the 11th of February to the 8th of March we play five teams who are within 2 points of the relegation zone.: Poole Town, Sholing, Marlow, Wimborne again & Tiverton. There's 15 points to play for and if we get our fair share I think we'll be just about out of the bottom four.
