Frome scorers: Saviour (3), Isaacson (11, 80), Christmas (25)
Frome Player of the Match: Bristow
The Ladies welcomed Ilminster Town Reserves to Badgers Hill for what forecasted to be a tough test.
A quick start The game started and Ilminster pressed Frome from the kick off but Frome got the ball back and on 3 minutes Saviour found room on the right and instinctively struck the 1st for Frome, with a fine strike from the corner of the 18 yard box which let the opposition keeper with no chance.
Ilminster restarted the game knowing that they had come up against a confident Frome side who wanted to play a passing game. Frome's second goal didn't take long, right on 11 minutes Christmas threaded the ball though the Ilminster defence for Isaacson to round the keeper and slot home confidently. A couple of corners to Frome came to nothing, but Ilminster still looked a threat although Frome worked hard when out of possession to stifle the Ilminster advances.
The Ilminster stand out player number 9 caused problems down the right flank but the couple of resulting shots on goal were comfortably collected by Restorick in the Frome goal. With 20 minutes on the refs watch Petteford fired a shot which was saved by the busier keeper on the day.
Dominance pays off
Frome's 3rd goal came on 25 minutes when Saviour ghosted down the right and fired in a cross which Christmas swept home. The first half continued up until the break with Christmas again 1 on 1 and chipping the out rushing keeper only to miss by inches, Bristow hitting the post and Saviour again just off target with a fine top bins effort. A worthy 3 nil lead by the Ladies at the break but Ilminster still looked a threat up front.
The second half started with both teams probing to gain supremacy in the first 10 minutes with most play in the middle of the park until Bristow forced the Ilminster keeper into the first save of the half. Straight after Ilminster get a free kick deep in the Frome half but the cross into the box is comfortably collected by Restorick 15 minutes in and Frome start settling down and playing the ball out from the back with some nice passages of play through the midfield resulting in a 4th goal being disallowed for a questionable offside.
Frome started moving through the gears creating chance after chance. Through Christmas , Underhill & Isaacson. Ilminster's goal came against the run of play as their forward launched a high ball from distance which luckily found the Frome net to her surprise, leaving Restorick no chance. With only 10 minutes to play Ilminster encouraged by their goal piled on the pressure but the impressive back 4 stood firm to weather the storm, Frome then broke down the right wing and the resulting cross was dispatched by Isaacson for her second, quashing any Ilminster thoughts of getting anything from the game. Frome kept pressing to the end for a 5th but the Ilminster keeper managed to keep it to 4. The supporters player of the match was presented to Mae Bristow for her tireless work controlling the midfield and getting Frome on the attack all game.
Manager Justin Paget commented "Another quality performance from the squad with everyone looking comfortable & confident on the ball."
