Frome Town fell at the final hurdle in the Somerset cup, as they were defeated by a youthful Weston Super Mare.
The Robins ongoing struggles in front of goal proved costly once again as they recorded their third consecutive 1-0 defeat with Brandon Bak’s second half strike enough to secure a 5th Somerset Cup title for the Seagulls.

Having already enjoyed success at Twerton Park earlier on in the competition-defeating Bath City 2-0 in the second round-Frome failed to repeat those fortunes this time around.
Despite their goal scoring issues, Danny Greaves men had been prolific in this cup, averaging three goals a game before the final.
Frome started the contest brightly with Ethan Vaughan going close twice in the opening ten minutes. In the third minute, he was slipped through by Elliott Dugan but couldn’t fire his shot past Max Harris. Six minutes later, he met a clipped cross from James Ollis at the back post, but failed to make clean contact with the header.
As Frome have done in so many games this season, they lost their way after a bright start, leading to a dry 15 minute spell, where neither side created anything.
The Robins then started to regain control and should have taken the lead when a cross found the head of Pierce Mitchell but he couldn’t keep his effort below the crossbar.
Three minutes later, Frome thought they took the lead as Vaughans cross found Ollis at the back post, who nodded back across goal towards Dugan to head home only for the linesman’s flag to cut celebrations short, the final action of the half.
Danny Greaves men made a decent start to the second half, but were once again guilty of not taking their chances, Ollis gambled on a ball over the top in the 49th minute but his effort lacked conviction and rolled harmlessly into Harris’ hands.
Despite being largely untroubled for most of the game, Weston slowly grew into the contest, there was a sense of inevitability that they would take the lead, as the game played out similarly to Hungerford on Saturday.
Despite Seb Tylek making some crucial saves to keep the score level, including keeping Jamie Soule’s effort out with his foot in the 55th minute and James Waite’s long distance effort seven minutes later, even he could do nothing about Bak’s strike from just inside the area.
Although Tylek made a crucial save seconds before, the defence failed to clear their lines before Bak pounced and struck into the far corner.
As has been the case too often this season, once Frome fall behind, they never look like to get back into the game, despite creating chances they failed to really trouble Harris’ in the Weston goal.
Vaughan provided a late cross for substitute Archie Ferris in the 88th minute, but his header was well wide. Then in the dying moments Sam Teale missed a golden opportunity to equalise after a cross was pulled back into his path, but he somehow blasted over from four yards out, the story of today and Frome’s season.
Although this defeat will be a bitter pill to swallow there are still five more cup finals to play, starting Saturday when Chertsey travel to Badgers Hill, in what will be a crucial game at the bottom of the Southern League Premier South.

Just watched the highlights and we couldn't score from the seven chances we created, half of them clear cut chances, good chances! Danny must be pulling his hair out - we only needed one for a penalty shoot out.
Weston fielded a side well below their full Vanarama South side - so what an opportunity missed this was .for silverware.
A cup win would have provided just the fillip the squad needed for Saturday's vital showdown with Chertsey. but we are still left, exhausted, frustrated, scratching our heads and failing in the only area that really matters in terms of winning games. Practically all our forwards missed chances to win the game. A lot of chances came from cros…
