Steve Jupp, BA11's very own Club Historian, puts his thoughts to paper ahead of a visit to Dorset.
It's only a month now until the big kick-off on 12th August as the Robins continue their pre-season programme with Saturday’s trip to Premier Division South outfit Dorchester Town on their 3G surface.
Danny Greaves' squad will be boosted by the returning trio of Jon Davies, Joe O'Loughlin and Reece Rusher while Pierce Mitchell will also travel but may be a fortnight or so from being fully match fit.
For Dorchester, with three warm-up games already under their belt, this will be their tenth straight campaign in the same Division in which they've yet to finish in the top half, a final placing of 13th last term being their best in that time.
The two sides last met four years ago during the first Covid-curtailed season in a League Challenge Cup tie at Badgers Hill when O'Loughlin was on target in a 1-1 draw before Frome triumphed on penalty kicks.
Earlier in 2019, on a chilly Tuesday night in February, the Avenue Stadium staged the most recent league encounter when Rex Mannings scored the only goal of the game in a scrappy affair, a precious away win in an ultimately disappointing season.
Match Details For those who plan on travelling to the Avenue Stadium, tickets can be purchased from Dorchester Town FC's website. Please note you'll pay a bit extra at the turnstile.
