Danny Greaves issues an injury update

In the past game or so, a few players have been absent, so we would like to give the supporters a quick update.

Reece Rusher - injured in our Pre Season fixture against Bath, has recently undergone a successful knee operation to repair his ACL and will miss the full 24/25 season.

Jon Davies - Had missed the end of last season and beginning of this current season with a MCL injury picked up in March against Exmouth. He recently made his long awaited return coming off the bench against Tiverton. 5 minutes into his 3rd appearance, and second start against Havant and Waterlooville he landed awkwardly, injuring is other knee. He is due in for a scan on Thursday 17th October, so we await further news and hope it's not as serious as feared.

Warren Maidment - In the last minute of the recent fixture against Basingstoke he fell awkwardly with the full weight of an opposing player on his leg. An initial independent observation has assessed the damage and we fear it could be a severe MCL damage. Warren is awaiting a date for his scan to confirm the extent of the damage and provide a timescale for his absence and subsequent recovery.

Matt Smith - Matt made an astonishing return to action at the end of last season to help us secure promotion. This was following an 18 month period on the sidelines following an operation to repair his ACL. Unfortunately earlier this month, he slipped in training with no contact and felt a pain in his knee (same knee as injured previously). His knee has been sore and extremely swollen and will require a scan. We won't know the extent of any damage until after this point.

Albie Hopkins - sustained a head injury earlier this month against Havant and Waterlooville in the FA Trophy and has been unavailable since. We hope he will return to action very soon.

Rex Mannings - signed on a 28 day loan last week, and was on the end of a robust challenge in the final minutes of his second debut for the club, landing awkwardly on his shoulder. After being assessed he has suffered damage to his ACJ which could take 2-3 weeks to recover.

We wish all of these players the very best, and hope to see them back on the pitch as soon as possible.

It's always concerning when players face injuries, but it's good to stay informed with updates like these from Danny Greaves. On a related note, I've been looking for ways to use downtime productively and came across free Google certification programs. Has anyone here tried these? They seem like a great way to gain new skills while recovering or during off-seasons! Would love to hear some feedback if you've done one!

Hard to believe that all of that quality is unavailable? At least Albie should be back - maybe for Saturday? That Basingstoke match has proven to be very problematical in more ways than one!

Let's hope Rex gets another game in before the end of his loan and some of the o/s scans are positive news. Good luck to all our crocks.

We're going to have to use Radek's new shed as an additional treatment room at this rate. a big well done to all those who contributed. including the 'Monksies'. the fans do appreciate it when the playing staff chip in - so well done.
