Frome slumped to another defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Chesham United to see them move ever closer to a relegation position. With Marcus Mapstone returning to the side and Ryan Bath starting there were hopes for a better result and performance.
Frome started brightly as is often the case playing some decent football with Chesham adopting a much more direct and physical approach. Their supporters were unhappy about the amount of free kicks going Frome’s way but most were justified. There were very few chances for either side in the first half, Kris Miller making a saving block and Simpson hitting a one on one chance straight at the goalkeeper being the closest anyone came until the ever dangerous Jefferson Louis broke clear in the 43rd minute which the defence dealt with well before the hosts hit the post a minute later and the half ended goalless.
Chesham has the better of the play in the second half as Frome became sloppy in possession giving the ball away in midfield areas and inviting the hosts to attack. Kris Scott came on in place of Joe O’Loughlin and scored with pretty much his first touch from the penalty spot after Tristan Plummer was brought down in the area. Chesham obviously there everything into trying to get the equaliser and had a series of free kicks and corners with no success until the 83rd minute when a cross from the right was headedhome by Jefferson Louis. Things got even worse in the 87th when substitute Dave Pearce was allowed through to give the hosts the lead. An injury time free kick for Frome hit the wall and deflected for a corner but it was not to be.
Frome Town man of the match was Connor Roberts
