The new month sees our chairman Derek Graham provide an update from our board to keep all of our supporters and partners, helping you keep up to date with the clubs progress. Please get in contact if you have any comments or suggestions.
A month to remember!
There is only one way I can start this month’s report and that is with a massive thank you to you all for your magnificent support against Bath City. Couldn’t have asked for more, and I know from your social media postings that despite the result everyone had a great day out. Apparently their highest FA Cup 3Q round gate since the seventies, and I think the third highest of the day behind York and Maidstone.
We came up against a very sharp Bath City side who gave us no thinking time when we were on the ball. Defensively they were very strong and were the better side on the day. But it gives us an idea of where we need to be when we reach that stage of our progress!
Before that there was, of course, the cup shock of the round when we beat Oxford City, followed by a good win over Lymington, whose keeper gave an inspired performance. It’s turning into a very interesting league this season with no clear leader and some unexpected results, for example Lymington went to strongly fancied Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday and held them to a draw.
Due to our cup success we already have games in hand, and we would go top if we won all those, but it’s cup game after cup game at the moment. Tuesday sees us go to Weston in the Southern League Cup. Then to Didcot on Saturday in the FA Trophy. They play in our central league and have had a good start to the season. It will be a tough game, with no replay. Straight to pens if all square at full time.
Contracts
I was delighted that James Ollis has become a contracted player. His performance this season has impressed everyone. Our control over our tight budgetary management, has enabled the Board to allow the flexibility Danny to take initiatives like this.
Off the pitch We're now confident that we've contact everyone we can about the refunds for the Win-a-Car competition. We'll be announcing the total we've received at the next home game. We will also be closing the Crowdfunder page in 7 days for anyone that does want to donate to the club and Fair Frome.
https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/donatetofrome At the next Board meeting we will also be considering the suggestions put forward as to how we should utilise our share of the money donated after the car raffle was stopped. Still time for you to put forward any ideas.
Sponsors
Off the field you will note the number of new perimeter boards popping up around the ground. Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored these, and Signefex for the speed with which they have produced them. However, we still need many, many more, you can see the difference from when we go to other grounds. Please also remember Matchday and ball sponsorship is always available and if interested then contact us at commercial@frometownafc.co.uk
Being part of the club and the next AGM A number of you have taken up the opportunity to become Supporter Members of the Company and the closing date for applications is at the end of this month. If you have not yet considered this then you can find the detail It’s £20, reduced to £10 if you are a season ticket holder and/or Supporters Club member. This gives you the right to attend our AGM. The Board are very aware that due to Covid restrictions, we have not held an AGM for some time. Our current thinking is we will hold one in early 2022, which will give us the opportunity to present the latest Club accounts.
The Board will shortly be agreeing a date for our Annual General Meeting, although it will not be held until the early New Year. This will give us an opportunity to present up to date accounts.
50:50 Club draw
It's been 10 months since we launched the 50:50 monthly prize draw competition, we've now distributed over £3,400 in prize money to fans! Can I remind you that the 50/50 prize draw is always available to enter half the money goes to the club and half to the entrants. So the more people in it the more you can win and more the club wins too! I am touched by the number of winners who have either donated their prize money or used it to good purpose by buying a season ticket!
Merchandise
We know this has been a real issue over the last year or so. With the pandemic and other supply issues we've been very hamstrung in the decisions we could make with commitments in place. However, we now have all the puma items and kits in the Club Shop at the club. You can view them online but only buy in person. Mainly as it's best to check out the sizing on the items before you buy, especially the playing shirts. These will be the last of these available so stocks are limited! See the Puma range and the items in the club shop at the ground.
However, we've been able to progress another number of items that are now available to buy online only from hats to phone covers and even flip flops! Check them out - they will be delivered to you within 14 days of order! See the new range and find out more
Here's a few of the new items...
Food at the ground! Scout and Hunter have taken over matchday catering as My Big Greek Fat Wrap had to pull out for personal reasons. The new caterers have got a really good menu, so please have a try at our next home game.
Flexi tickets
Don't forget 12 games, price of 10, what's not to like...
If you watch one video today, make it this one...
Thank you again for all your wonderful support, we hope there's a lot more excitement to follow.
