The new month sees our chairman Derek Graham provide an update from our board to keep all of our supporters and partners, helping you keep up to date with the clubs progress. Please get in contact if you have any comments or suggestions.
"You could almost see the weight lifting off the collective shoulders of the team when Rex imperiously slotted away the first against Bideford. After that we played some of our best football over the last few games. Like you I have been impressed with our defensive qualities recently and Warren was deservedly man of the match. Everyone I spoke with thought that was the right choice (which isn’t always the case!).
Saturday’s game against Totton is massive for both sides, as will be next weeks for us against Sholing. The run in then looks on paper a bit gentler, but we still have to go to the new incarnation of Barnstaple, and Larkhall on the back of their excellent Trophy run. Before then we have a Somerset Cup game on Tuesday away to Weston. Hopefully some of you can make the journey to the seaside!
I want to say a few words about our volunteers – they are absolutely essential to the running of matchdays. I am also delighted that more and more people are approaching us on matchdays asking to help. From organising the car park, to the turnstiles, preparing drinks for the players, stewarding and managing our corporate hospitality; we could not do it without you and on behalf of the Board a big thank you.
I am also pleased to say that we were successful in a grant application to the Trident Fund. This was through the Southern League and the money, which has to be specifically allocated, will be used to facilitate a theatre production. More details in due course.
We are also looking already at the 22-23 pre-season fixtures and hope to draw some big names to Badgers Hill. We have the quality pitch and attendances which should interest higher placed clubs.
As you would expect we are also now starting to plan our budget for next year. It will undoubtedly be a tough year but beginning now gives us time to think about how best to ensure we can commit to the same level of spending as this year.
In the rest of this monthly e-newsletter you will find further information on how you can help the Club.
Finally, and as always, a massive thanks for your support. We couldn’t do this without you.
