Chairman's Message: April 2022

The new month sees our chairman Derek Graham provide an update from our board to keep all of our supporters and partners up to date with the clubs progress. Please get in contact if you have any comments or suggestions.

"Well, we are now most certainly at the business end of the season. All we can do is keep on winning as we did on Saturday against Willand. Amazing support as ever, and thanks to John Turner and the Supporter’s Club for running the coach. Just a reminder, they will be doing the same for Slimbridge and Lymington, so book now to guarantee your place. They are doing so much to make this initiative work, so please tell others and make this work!

This will be my last report before the end of the season, so I want to say a few thanks. Apologies if it comes across like the worst type of Oscar’s acceptance speech (although I promise not to hit anyone!).

First a massive thanks to Danny, the rest of the coaching team and the great squad of players we have. Everyone has kept on trying, even when things are not going our way. It’s a testimony to the squad ethos that we are able to attract and retain quality players. It’s worth reminding ourselves that we do not have some ‘big’ league feeder clubs supplying us with loanees, our players play for us because they want to. We will have a presentation evening in the Clubhouse after the Lymington game. So even if you can not travel down to that match, please do come along to thank the players in the evening.

I also want to thank Danny for his other role. He is probably the only manager who is also the Club’s finance director. I know it gives him some sleepless night, but through careful budgeting we will make it through the season. On that point, another thank you to the Supporter’s Club for their support.

On the subject of finance, another thank you to all of this year’s sponsors, whether through shirt sponsoring, perimeter boards, match or ball sponsorship, large or small it all enables us to survive. We shall be doing a special thank you to our sponsors at the Paulton Rovers game on Easter Monday. We'll also be inviting companies from around Frome and the region to come and join us. A thank you to everyone that helped complete a recent survey about our partners, with 129 responses the information is hugely helpful for the club.

Next our volunteers, without whom we could not run a match day, car park stewarding; turnstile manning; hospitality provision; programme selling etc. There is so much to co-ordinate on the day, which is why we are advertising for a match day supervisor. If you think you can step up for this role, or for any of our other advertised roles, then please do apply. A special mention to Maurice Cox, who celebrates his 80th birthday. Maurice is a stalwart of the club, and faithfully mans a turnstile week in and week out.

Finally and most importantly thanks to you. We have seen our gates soar, with our average rise above the 500 mark. This is a magnificent achievement, and in no small part due to Scott Fitzgibbon and our communication team raising of our media profile online and in the town. But it's also down to everyone one of you that's helped tell a friend, bought a love one to the ground or just even returned to coming back to watch games. It is great to see the stadium buzzing with people on match day, and we are looking forward to bumper gates for our last two home matches.

Whatever happens from now on in, it has been one of the most exciting and enjoyable (most of the time!) seasons."
