Back to #BA11 - Challenge 618 (updated)

Updated: Aug 12, 2021

This Saturday sees our opening league game and it's a special one as thanks to IMS LTD, we are opening the gates to allow everyone in for free! Since we launched the tickets online we have had over 553 people claim their tickets so far. So we're wondering can we reach 618? So let's put that into context. Over the last few seasons 532 has been our highest league attendance against Paulton and Melksham Town. So with our Season Ticket holders, Flexi ticket holder and regulars, we believe that we will reach that number in the coming days, based on the tickets claimed so far. But how do we make the match something special... something memorable. Something we can all be a part of. A little bit of history...maybe?

Well, as the number of tickets being claimed goes up and up. We've been looking at the numbers and thinking "what if!". Here's our top 9 home league attendances, but right now we've got our eyes fixed on one, a fixture against Paulton Rovers from 2010...

  1. 1600 v Cinderford Town Western League - 1953

  2. 1320 v Dorchester Town Western League - 1955

  3. 1200 v Yeovil Town Western League - 1955

  4. 1200 v Stonehouse Western League - 1954

  5. 800 v Paulton Rovers Western League - 1979

  6. 617 v Paulton Rovers Southern League - 2010

  7. 600 v Bristol City Western League - 1967

  8. ^^ 553 v Highworth Town so far... ^^

  9. 552 v Chippenham Town Southern League - 2017

  10. 531 v Hereford Southern League - 2017 --- 455 v Paulton Rovers Southern League - 2019

Where we need your help? If everyone coming just brings one other person, we would comfortably met the challenge of our largest crowd this century in the league. So we've named this 'Challenge 618' - can you help us reach that magic number from 2010? We need you to (where possible) tell your friends, neighbours and colleagues about the match.

What we are doing...

As well as the usual social media channels, website, emails and club communications. We've been handing out mini-cards with the details to Frome Town United players, to our development squad and even through the front doors of the local community.

You've probably seen the Frome Times, Frome Standard and Nub News have also been supporting our cause to promote this opportunity. As well as our partners IMS LTD, Fair Frome, Carpet Factory Frome and Platinum Motors. We know that there will be so many people that say come Sunday - "We wish we knew", and we are doing our best to reach them. So anything you can do to help the club will be hugely appreciated. Highworth Town are also joining in by spreading the word and putting on a coach for their fans to come to the match.

So can we dare to think we might reach the magic number of 618 to have our largest league attendance this century....
