A preview of what's still to come this season for Frome Town Women.

With no matches over the Christmas period, Frome Town Women return to League action this Sunday as they take on the flying-high Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies at Badger’s Hill. The season so far has been a mixed bag for the team, early in the season being hit by a series of unforeseeable events such as injuries & illness and more recently, poor weather affecting playing conditions. But amidst the setbacks, the team have displayed moments of quality and excellence and have welcomed new players to the squad, particularly from Frome Town United.

With half their league games still left to play, and five of those to be played at home, in what is looking like a very competitive Eastern Division of the South West Regional Women’s League, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive opportunity for the team.

Following this weekend’s game, Frome then face Purton at home on January the 14th. With no fixture on the 21st, they then head on the road 3 weeks on the trot to face Purton, Weymouth and Shaftesbury. As fixtures currently stand, the team then have a cracking 3 home games in a row to round off their League season as they take on Bath, Weymouth and then Stockwood Wanderers at Badger’s Hill. And with the promise of a possible League Cup competition in the coming weeks, there is lots for the team to look forward to.

Manager Ben Bolland had this to say about the next part of the season: “There’s no question it’s been a difficult start to the season. But Christmas has given us the chance to rest and recharge. The players are raring to go now and get on with the next eight games. We’ve got a fantastic opportunity ahead of us to compete more strongly in this Division and have a good finish to the season. We’ve grown the squad, with some excellent young players coming in. And we’ve learnt a lot as a team and have plenty of positives to build on. The coaching team and players are really looking forward to getting back on the pitch"

Up next - Frome Town Women V Royal Wootton Bassett Ladies. Sunday 7 January 2024, 2pm.

As ever, all home games are free entry and we welcome all supporters. So why not come along on a match day, watch the team, and enjoy refreshments at the clubhouse and teahut? We look forward to seeing you there!

Beat the January blues and Join Frome Town Women for a fun filled, fundraising Prize Bingo evening on the 12 January 2024! Frome Town Women are a community asset playing high standard, free to watch competitive football and are entirely run by very hard working volunteers. The club is funded by a combination of sponsorship from local businesses, grants (should we be lucky enough to be awarded any) and, at present, by the players themselves contributing towards the financial running of the team. To help keep ourselves afloat, the team are hosting our first fundraiser of the season at Badgers Hill Stadium Clubhouse on 12 January 2024 - Doors open 6.30pm Eyes down 7.30pm. Hope to see you there - everyone welcome!
